A small style guide for picking technical fonts in 2026
Four families I keep coming back to, what they signal, and how to pair them with a serif so the page does not look like a JIRA dashboard.
Defaults that aged well
- Inter is still the safest sans for product UI in 2026.
- JetBrains Mono for code, IBM Plex Mono when you want a softer feel.
- Geist if you want something that says "modern dev tool" without trying.
Pairing with a serif
A single serif accent — usually italic — does more for a tech page than any color choice. The point is contrast: the serif tells the reader "a person wrote this", the sans tells them "the work is precise".
